Terms and Conditions

The rules for using Maplure, written to be read. The short version: what you make is yours, credit the map data, and don't use maps to hurt people.

Last updated 4 November 2026

1.Agreeing to these terms

These terms apply when you use maplure.com and the Maplure editor (the “Service”). By using the Service you agree to them and to our Privacy Policy. If you use Maplure for an organisation, you agree on its behalf and confirm you're allowed to. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.

2.The Service

Maplure lets you make animated map videos in your browser. It's currently free to use. Features change as we improve it, and we may add, change or remove features, or add paid options later. We'll tell you before anything you already use starts to cost money.

3.Accounts

  • You can use the editor without an account. An account is only needed to save projects to the cloud.
  • You must be at least 13 to use the Service. If you're under 18, a parent or guardian must agree to these terms for you.
  • Keep your sign-in details safe. You're responsible for what happens under your account, and should tell us at once if you think someone else has used it.
  • Give us accurate details, and one account per person.

4.Your content

You own what you make. The stories you build, the text, images, audio and video you add, and the videos you export are yours. We claim no ownership of them.

Projects kept in your browser never reach us. When you save a project to your account, you give us permission to store it, copy it between devices and show it to you, and to anyone you share it with if you make it public, only as needed to run the Service. That permission ends when you delete the project or your account.

You confirm you have the right to use everything you upload, and that your content doesn't break the law or anyone else's rights.

5.Map data and attribution

Maps in Maplure are drawn from data and imagery that belong to others, including:

  • map data © OpenStreetMap contributors, available under the Open Database License;
  • vector tiles from OpenFreeMap, © OpenMapTiles;
  • satellite imagery © Esri and its data providers;
  • place results from Photon, Nominatim and Google Maps Platform, and descriptions from Wikipedia.

When you publish a video, keep the credits these providers require, for example “© OpenStreetMap contributors”, in the video or its description. Using satellite imagery or Google results may be limited by those providers' own terms, which you agree to follow. Map data can be incomplete or out of date, and borders shown on a map are not a statement by us about any territory.

6.Acceptable use

Please don't use Maplure to:

  • make content that is illegal, defamatory, harassing or hateful, or that infringes someone's rights;
  • spread deliberate falsehoods presented as fact, such as fake news reports or invented emergencies;
  • track, expose or target a private person's location without their consent;
  • overload, probe or break the Service, scrape it in bulk, or get around its limits;
  • resell or copy the Service itself, or pass off the Maplure software as your own.

We may remove content saved to our servers, or suspend an account, that breaks these rules.

7.Generated steps

The prompt box turns your words into editable steps automatically. Its output can be wrong: a place may be misread or a route may not match reality. Check your animation before you publish it, especially when it shows real events, borders or directions.

8.Our rights

The Maplure name, logo, website and software belong to us. These terms give you the right to use the Service, not to copy its code or brand. The optional “maplure.com” watermark may stay on or come off your videos as you choose. If you send us feedback or ideas, we may use them without owing you anything.

9.No warranty

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”. We don't promise it will be uninterrupted, error-free or fit for a particular purpose. Projects stored only in your browser can be lost if browser data is cleared, so export or save anything you want to keep.

10.Limits of liability

To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses, lost profits, or lost data, and our total liability for any claim about the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before it, or ₹1,000 if you paid nothing. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited under law.

11.Responsibility for your content

If someone brings a claim against us because of content you made or uploaded, or because you broke these terms, you agree to cover the reasonable costs that result.

12.Ending your use

You can stop using Maplure at any time, and ask us to delete your account at support@maplure.com. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or puts the Service or other people at risk, and will tell you why unless the law or safety prevents it. Sections about content ownership, liability and governing law continue after your use ends.

13.Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. We'll change the date at the top and, for important changes, tell signed-in users before they apply. If you keep using the Service after that, you accept the new terms.

14.Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of India. Any dispute will be settled by the courts of India, but we'll always try to sort things out with you directly first.

15.Contact
